The Redhawk definitely has a larger cylinder than the GP100, this is why it is capable of accommodating 8 .357 chambers, while the GP100 has 6. As for swapping cylinders between GP100's, I think that is possible. No the cylinders aren't the same size. If you want a 8 shot Ruger .357 get the 2.75 inch Redhawks.

Now, on my minty GP100, I notice a shake when it's open and closed: no difference in movement. The cylinder also moves a bit at full lockup, or. hammer cocked all the way and trigger pulled all the way. I do not know the exact length of movement but I do not like it at all. So I'm thinking about getting a shim.

(although I do have a Super Redhawk, Blackhawk, Single Six convertible and a SP101) For carry, open or concealed, I've gone with semi-autos.

2600 posts · Joined 2010. #20 · Jun 15, 2014. I have two GP100 revolvers. Both have been equipped with 9 lb hammer springs. One has an 8 lb trigger reset spring, and the other one a 10 lb spring. The trigger on the second one wouldn't reset reliably with the 8 lb trigger reset spring.
